Charity bike ride completed : Lillington Juniors FC Latest News

After a long and gruelling two days and 260 miles, our team of cyclists and support staff finally arrived back in Leamington at the Rugby Tavern on Sunday to a very warm welcome from a large gathering of people!

It was a fitting end to an incredible journey for the team who started their journey at 6:30am on Saturday morning in Newcastle after pitch side photos at St James' Park and a tour of the changing rooms. Saturday saw the cyclists, and support team in the vehicles, endure an extremely wet 130 miles to Wakefield but their teamwork and togetherness brought them safely to West Yorkshire by 5pm.

After an evening meal and a good night's sleep, the cyclists left Wakefield at 7am on Sunday morning with the forecast of a dry day ahead of them and this proved to be the case.

While the weather was better on Sunday, the cyclists were challenged by many climbs through Yorkshire and Derbyshire before arriving back in Leamington at 6:45pm to a loud cheer from friends, family and players from the football club.

We would like to give a special mention and huge thanks to our team of cyclists, Matt Howroyd, Richard Jones, Jake Chattey, Ryan Cranton, James Burt, Andy Houston and Pat Brown and also a huge thanks to the unbelievable (and tiring!) support they received from the support people which allowed them to the complete the challenge, Avril Dean, Jodi Cranton, Poppy Cranton, Jayden Cranton, Millie Olds, Brian Willis and Ashley Reynolds.

We are still taking donations which will be split between Birmingham's Children Hospital and our football club. If you'd like to donate then please click here.

Thank you!
